Vikshut Mundkur
Core Member-Bangalore chapter
Vikshut was born in Bangalore. Since then Vikshut has travelled to Goa, Delhi, and Calcutta and now has been in Bangalore for the past 14 years. Vikshut finished his schooling in Cathedral High School, Bangalore. Vikshut did his B.E. Instrumentation Technology in Sri Jayachamrajendra College of Engineering in Mysore. He was placed in Infosys and has been working there for the past two and a half years. He took a sabbatical from Infosys last month to work full time with Youth for Seva (YFS). He will be on this sabbatical for a year. Vikshut has joined YFS to initiate an Environmental Awareness Division, where they aim to partner with NGOs/Environmentalists and connect volunteers to grass root level work.
In his free time, he likes to sing. He is the lead singer for a rock band called Pushing Tin here in Bangalore. He is also learning the guitar and has taken up Carnatic vocal classes to train his voice. He has a wonderful friends circle here and he loves spending time with them as well.
Vikshut loves Bangalore. He spent the initial years of his life here and then came back here in 1995. The past 10 years has seen Bangalore undergo tremendous changes, much of which he cannot stand to see. Be it ruthless felling of trees, increase in garbage piles across the city and citizens' indifference to all of this. When he was in school, he and his friends started the “Save The Earth” Club. They cleaned the streets of Koramangala and went door to door spreading the message of garbage segregation. Now, he wants to make himself useful to bring back Bangalore's charm by being an agent of sustainable development and spreading awareness about our environment.
